To celebrate Agua Caliente Casino Cathedral City’s first anniversary, the casino plans to host a special event with indoor and outdoor musical performances on Wednesday, Nov. 24.

Zowie Bowie, which is not a David Bowie tribute act, will headline the event with a free show for Ace Club members at the outdoor Agave Caliente Terraza at 8 p.m.

Inside, diners at One Eleven Café can hear country star Cali Tucker from 6-9 p.m. Ryan Whyte Maloney, musician-singer and a former top five contestant on “The Voice,” will also perform for guests dining at 360 Sports at 9 p.m. The night will finish up with local DJs at the Agave Caliente Tequila Bar until 2 a.m.

“We’re excited to all celebrate together,” said Pearl Aguinaldo, the casino’s marketing director.

Last November, the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians became the first tribe to operate three casinos in the Coachella Valley. Its Palm Springs property is the oldest, in the heart of downtown, a favorite of locals for decades. The Rancho Mirage location features a resort experience, complete with a large hotel tower, spa and a large showroom. And in the past year that its new Cathedral City location has been in operation, it’s carved out a niche for community events as well as entertainment.

Agua Caliente Casino Cathedral City opened Nov. 24, 2020, about two weeks before the state shut down indoor activities again as coronavirus cases rose. Southern California’s tribal casinos are on sovereign land and set their own policies and guidelines.

However, due to the pandemic, not all of the amenities opened immediately at the casino. The Agave Caliente Terraza, the property’s outdoor entertainment venue, opened in April and has since become a centerpiece to the property.

The space hosts several weekly entertainment and community events, including yoga, cornhole and Latin music. After the anniversary event, the next big date on the calendar for the venue is New Year’s Eve concert, when DJ Citizen Jane will headline.

“The variety of events that we host brings us a diverse group of guests,” said Aguinaldo.
