Darrell Alan Yuen II was born in San Diego, CA on May 18,1986 to Victoria Ann Whitlock and Darrel Alan Yuen. He was the youngest of seven children including siblings: Patricia Cadwallader (Milligan), Joshua Yuen, Jessica Yuen (Barnett), Jason Yuen, Beau Tukey, and Julia Yuen.
Born three months early, Darrell had medical complications which required surgical repair at only two days old. From the beginning, Darrell proved he was a survivor and would continue to demonstrate that same fighting spirit throughout his short life of thirty-six years.
As a child, he enjoyed spending time with his siblings and his cousins playing football, basketball, and wrestling. During his youth, he played football and was a well-known student with lots of friends.
Darrell learned the painting and construction trades from his father early in life. His career included time as a union painter, laborer, and construction worker. As an adult, he became a motorcycle enthusiast and his hobbies included playing football, watching NASCAR, throwing horseshoes and darts, listening to music, and spending time with his friends and family.
Darrell was blessed with a large and loving family. He stepped up and became a father to Carlie Meade who he loved and raised as his own. He later had three children Joanna Lee, Kaylie Yuen, and Kendall Yuen. He loved his children more than anything in the world, and had taught them as much as a father could in the short time he was given with them.
On June 24, 2022, Darrell went to be with the Lord and was greeted by family who preceded him in death including: Brother, Jason Yuen; Grandmothers, Donna Yuen and Patricia Cadwallader; Grandfathers, Robert Yuen and Terry Whitlock; Uncles, Robert Yuen, Terry Whitlock, and William “Bill” Yuen; Aunt: Jackie Cadwallader; Cousins, David S. White, and Robert D. Yuen; and many other relatives and friends.
Throughout his life, Darrell was known to be a very compassionate, caring, and loving person. He was willing to do anything he could to make sure others felt good about themselves. He was a kind soul but was also fiercely protective of those he loved and loyal to a fault. He was someone who would give the last dollar he had in his pocket or the shirt off his back to someone in need
His light and love will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
