Sept 4, 1939 — Oct 10, 2017

Diana Rose Matheny, 78, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2017, surrounded by her family at Sutter Medical Center in Sacramento.

Diana was born on Sept. 4, 1939, in Fairfield, California, to John Lozano and Frances Bayona Lozano. She went to Fairfield schools for all of her education and graduated from Armijo High School in 1957. She spent a couple of years in Montana as a military wife, and later returned to Fairfield where she lived the remainder of her life caring for her mother and father.

Diana worked at Walgreens, Val’s Liquor and Rockville Grocery. She spent many years at Pacific Bell as a phone operator. Diana was a real animal lover; she loved cooking and staying in touch with family and friends through her monthly dinners out. She was a pro at Spanish Cookies, and we are thankful she passed on her knowledge of them last Christmas season so that we can carry on the Lozano tradition! She was a member of the Armijo Alumni Association as well as Native Daughters of the Golden West.

She is survived by her brothers, John and Richard Lozano of Fairfield and Vacaville; niece, Toni Parkhurst of Vacaville; nephews, David Lozano of Fairfield and Jeff Lozano of Vacaville; and many great-nieces and great-nephews, as well as two great-grandnieces, Sadie and Amelia, who lit up the last years of her life.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Frances Bayona Lozano; father, John Lozano; daughter, Mary Rose Matheny; nephew, Larry Lozano; and sister-in-law, Carolyn Lozano.

A special thanks to Laura Carlson and Sharon Gardiner Lahmon for your compassionate care of our Aunt.
