He wed the love of his life, Estrella “Ellie” Enriquez Elegado on August 18, 1963 in San Juan Bautista, CA and was blessed with four children, Eric, Aileen, Roy and Lani.
DG was not only recognized as a successful businessman and entrepreneur, but also celebrated as a loving man with a infectious personality, playful humor, and welcoming spirit. Early in his career he worked in the agricultural industry, though with his passion and drive for success, he obtained his insurance license in the early 70’s then followed by a California Real Estate License and Broker’s License in 1975. By the mid 1990’s, he successfully expanded his business to two locations, San Diego and Las Vegas. His accolades spread throughout the Filipino community where his involvement thrived, serving as President of Narvacanean, Las Vegas in the mid 2000’s. His true personality and smile were best depicted through an interview in October 2007 found on Youtube where he humbly discussed his accomplishments and PROUDLY spoke about God, his lovely wife, and beautiful family. DG enjoyed listening to motivational speakers such as Zig Zigler and Norman Vincent Peale, which he then passed his motivational spirit on to his children, family, and people he encountered throughout his life.
DG was survived by his beloved wife Ellie, Children Eric, Aileen, Roy and Lani, daughter in law’s Charmagne and Virgina, son in laws Jay and Alex, Grandchildren Veronica, Leo, Eric John II, Julian, Elyas, Victoria, Cameron, Adrian, Ariana, Alyssa and Andrew, Great Grandchildren Scarlett and Landon, and siblings, Magdalena “Dalen” Elegado Mercado and Faustina “Tina” Elegado Vilano. DG’s children and family will always remember his optimistic mantra he reiterated to them time and time again, “Whatever the mind of man can conceive and believe, IT CAN achieve with a positive mental attitude and Grace of GOD”. His wife Ellie will reminiscently cherish his endearing morning affection, “Honey, you look beautiful,” and “I Love You”. DG’s favorite song, “I Did It My Way,”beautifully describes his legacy:
“I’ve loved, I’ve laughed and cried
I’ve had my fails, my share of losing
And now as tears subside
I find it all so amusing
To think I did all that
And may I say, not in a shy way
Oh, no, no not me
I did it my way…”
Memorial service is from 3-5pm. Viewing from 5-8pm at Living Way Church in Poway.
