Concert promoter Goldenvoice, which put the Empire Polo Club on the map with the Coachella and Stagecoach music festivals, announced Wednesday it now will operate the Indio property year-round.

A long-term agreement with the Haagen family that owns the property opens the door for Goldenvoice to hold more concerts, festivals and other events on the polo fields throughout the year.

The new lease also gives Goldenvoice and its parent company AEG Presents year-round control of the Empire Grand Oasis special event property in Thermal.

“Goldenvoice has had a unique relationship with Empire Polo Club for over twenty-five years,” said Paul Tollett, Goldenvoice president, in a written statement. “It is a privilege to now take over the operations of the venue and we look forward to continuing to build upon the special history that has been established there. It’s immeasurable how much we’ve learned from Al Haagen,”

Goldenvoice launched the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival at the polo club in 1999. It added the Stagecoach country music festival in 2007.

In 2012, the Coachella festival expanded to two weekends, making it three consecutive weekends of music festivals in the desert each spring.

“We are pleased to continue our long-term relationship with Paul Tollett and Goldenvoice,” the Haagen family said in a written statement. “The new long-term lease will assure that the iconic Coachella and Stagecoach Music Festivals will continue for many years to come and allow Goldenvoice to expand their vast catalog of musical acts on both of Empire’s properties.

“We wish the very best to AEG, Goldenvoice, and Paul Tollett with their future plans.”
