• $100,000 Desi Arnaz Stakes, 2-year-old fillies, 6 1/2 furlongs

• $100,000 Grade III Bob Hope Stakes, 2-year-olds, 7 furlongs

• Count Del Mar CEO Joe Harper among the camp that believes the Breeders’ Cup should be moved around yearly and not confined to the West Coast because of the weather. “As much as I love to see it out here, I firmly believe that it should be moved around the country,” he said. “World Cups aren’t in the same place, that type of thing. It just makes it a little more realistic for who the best horses are. Some horses are going to run better at one track than another. I think it’s better for racing in general (to move it around).”

• The California Horse Racing Board reported Thursday that all samples collected from last weekend’s Breeders’ Cup at Del Mar have been cleared by the Kenneth L. Maddy Equine Analytical Chemistry Laboratory at UC Davis. Post-race testing was performed for prohibited drugs on the first four finishers in all 14 Breeders’ Cup races and any additional random horses selected by the stewards consistent with CHRB protocol. Post-race testing was done on both blood and urine samples.

• Two-year-olds take center stage at Del Mar this weekend with Saturday’s $100,000 Desi Arnaz Stakes for juvenile fillies at 6 1/2 furlongs and Sunday’s $100,000 Grade III Bob Hope Stakes for the boys at 7 furlongs. The Bob Baffert-trained Eda, a winner of the Anoakia Stakes at Santa Anita on Oct. 24, was installed as the 3-5 morning-line favorite in the five-horse field for the Desi Arnaz. The Bob Hope drew a field of five, which includes the Baffert trio of Messier, Kamui and Winning Map.
