Ramona Vasquez Castro, 81, died Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012, after a long illness and complications from diabetes.

She was born in Brawley, Calif., and lived in Fairfield for 50 years where she was primarily a homemaker and foster care giver. As a hobby, she enjoyed doing flower arrangements with her sister and was a longtime San Francisco Giants and 49ers fan. Mrs. Castro was a member of the San Carlos City Pangasinan Association in San Francisco.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Cecilia and Vincent Llaguno of Rocklin; daughter, Mary Cabral of Fairfield; son, Thomas Castro of Fairfield; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Hortensia Dominquez of Delano and Estella Salonga of Fairfield; and brother, Raul Vasquez of Brawley, Calif.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a Rosary at 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 23, 2012, at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home, 1850 W. Texas St., Fairfield. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2012, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1070 N. Texas St., Fairfield. Father Michael Downey will officiate.
