The National Newspaper Awards were held in Toronto on Friday, and two categories of journalism by Saltwire journalists won.
Juanita Mercer, of the St. John’s Telegram, won E. Cora Hind Award in local reporting. Bruce McKinnon of the Chronicle Herald won in editorial cartooning. Michael de Adder, of The Herald, was the runner-up.
Chronicle Herald photographer Tim Krochak came in second place for the sports photography category with an image taken from an ultralight drone of the start to a race during the Canadian Canoe Kayak Sprint Trials.
