PASADENA — The UCLA football program announced 55,675 were in attendance for the nationally televised Pac-12 Conference game against No. 10 Oregon.

The crowd is the second largest attendance mark of the season, behind the 68,123 for the LSU game on Sept. 4, which also aired on national television.

The Bruins’ last two home games resulted in losses as the student turnout was starting to improve with classes starting at the beginning of the month.

UCLA had 50,698 fans at the Rose Bowl to witness the Bruins’ loss to Fresno State, the first of the season. There were 40,522 in attendance as Arizona State beat the Bruins in what was billed as a pivotal Pac-12 South game.

The Bruins offered free tickets to all students for the LSU game as part of their effort to help draw a crowd in its favor. The Bruins offered free tickets to students again this week for coming out on campus at 4:30 a.m. to be in attendance for ESPN’s “College GameDay.”

ESPN broadcaster Kirk Herbstreit mentioned how impressed he was with the turnout for the show at 5 a.m. and gave a shout out to UCLA athletic director Martin Jarmond for his efforts to help spread the awareness about ‘GameDay’ coming to campus.

Former Bruins quarterback Cade McNown was honored during Saturday’s game by UCLA and the National Football Foundation and as he prepares to be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame.

McNown was a four-year starter for UCLA from 1995-98 and remains the Bruins’ career leader in total offense (11,285 yards), passing yards (10,708 yards), completions (694) and touchdown passes (68).

He finished third in the Heisman Trophy voting in 1998 after finishing eighth in 1997.

Kris Farris was the Bruins’ honorary captain ahead of Saturday’s game at the Rose Bowl.

Farris played offensive left tackle from 1996-98 and started all 35 games of his career.

He became a consensus first-team All-American and the Bruins’ second Outland Trophy winner, as a junior, in 1998. He and McNown helped lead the university to a school-record 20 consecutive victories from 1997-98.

Farris was selected in the third round of the 1999 NFL draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers and played for the Bills in 2001. Following his NFL career, he returned to Westwood as a student and graduated from UCLA’s Anderson School of Business in 2009.

Inglewood quarterback Justyn Martin was in attendance for the game. Martin scored four touchdowns Friday in a win over Leuzinger to clinch the Ocean League title.

Martin is expected to make a verbal commitment to UCLA, Ole Miss or Michigan on Thursday.

He’s a four-star recruit, according to the 247sports composite for the class of 2022 and was previously committed to Cal.

The university officially inducted its nine-member Class of 2020 into the UCLA Athletic Hall of Fame on Friday.

Keira Goerl (softball), Tasha Schwikert (gymnastics), Noelle Quinn (basketball), Mike Powell (track and field) and Adam Wright (men’s water polo) were among the members honored at halftime Saturday.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts, Russell Westbrook (Lakers) and Kevin Love (Cleveland Cavaliers) and former soccer player Lauren Cheney were members of the class that did not attend Saturday’s game at the Rose Bowl.

Roberts was in Atlanta managing the Dodgers in NLCS Game 6 against the Braves.
