View Original Notice ? Woman killed while crossing street in Long Beach, driver arrested
A man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and carrying a concealed firearm after he struck and killed a woman while driving in Long Beach Tuesday, Nov. 23, authorities said.
Tyrone Tate, 68, of Long Beach was driving his car northbound on Pacific Avenue near 12th Street just before 6 p.m. when he hit the woman, who was jaywalking across Pacific, police said.
Police determined Tate was driving under the influence and arrested him. Investigators do not believe Tate was speeding, police said.
The woman, 62, died at a hospital, police said. Her identity was withheld pending notification of her relatives.
Tate was being held in jail on $100,000 bail, police said.
